After her first infusion, Anna couldn't wait for her next one! Sarah had her infusion a few days before Anna was due for her second one, and she was so sad it wasn't her turn! What a strange child. Anna finished her last day of school on Thursday the 29th. The other kids finished Friday the 30th with a half day. The boys both spent the afternoon and night with friends. I took the girls to Oceans of Fun (a water park) with a friend and her daughter. Anna loves going there, but man she had a fit when it was time to leave!
When we got home, it was pretty late, but we needed to pre-medicate her. We started her infusion about 815pm. The first time, it took right about 2 hours because the flow rate on her tubing is pretty slow. She was a rock star again! She sat there while I put the needles in and didn't make a sound when the medicine went in. This infusion only took about 1.5 hours (not sure why it was so much faster), and she did great!
Afterwards, she was concerned about the swelling in her stomach and kept poking at the "bumps" and squeezing them to try and make them go down. But, she didn't complain about them hurting at all. We told them she would look better in the morning and she said "ok" and that was the end of it!
She also finished her 10 days of clindamycin for her sinus infection and cough she couldn't get rid of. Now we will be able to get a good idea of how this will help her.
Her swelling really goes down quickly, and it doesn't seem to make her too sore. We are so thankful for all of the prayers for Anna as she goes through this process!
