5-23-14 Anna's First Infusion

Even though I was used to doing the subQ IG Therapy with Sarah, the Home Health Company likes to have the nurse come out for the first infusion just to make sure everything goes okay.  I was perfectly fine with that.  We had Anna watch Sarah's prior two infusions just knowing that this was coming.  And what I envisioned was Jason and Joshua holding Anna down while I put the needles in.  Then she would try to rip them out for the next two hours, or however long the infusion took.  We had lots and lots of people praying that this would go smoothly for us.

Anna received her box of "goodies" that Tuesday.  It had all of the supplies and medication for 4 weeks worth of infusions.

We also decided we need a plan to keep the girls' stuff separate.  They have different doses of medicine, plus their tubing has different flow rates.

So, that Friday was a "yes" day for Anna.  She wanted to go to Deanna Rose Farmstead and ride the pony and feed the goats.  Then we went to Target where she picked out a tea set and a new movie.   We came home and gave her Benadryl and motrin, and we put the EMLA cream on the areas where the needles would go in.  The nurse came, and we got everything set up.  Anna literally sat on the couch and just let me put the needles in her.  She didn't make a sound.  She was a little weirded (yes it is a word :) out when the medicine started going in, but she was a total rock star!

She watched her new video, played with Robby, and our nurse was so nice and let Anna play with the stethoscope and blood pressure cuff!  She mostly made Robby be the patient.

And, when it was all done, she wasn't even that sore.  The next day, she did say something a couple of times about her stomach hurting, but it didn't slow her down a bit!

She did seem to be really really tired for a few days and would crash in the late afternoon, but I don't know if it is related to this or that she is getting ready to grow again because she has been eating a ton too :)
